nazi museum

The Wewelburg Castle has now opened a museum celebrating the Nazi’s SS in Heinrich Himmler’s headquarters where he masterminded atrocities against Jews and other persecuted minorities.

But how, you ask, is this possible?  There’s a simple formula:  Creepy Nazi hangout + $10.7 million = Tourist Attraction

Museum officials say they don’t want it to become a pilgrimage for far right neo-fascists. Good luck with that.

The title of the exhibition is “Ideologie und Terror der SS”.
I doubt I have to translate that.

It’s not a celebration of the Nazi SS and thank you very much for not bombing us when we germans keep reminding ourselves of the crimes our previous generation commited.

  3. April 26th, 2010 at 23:02 | #3

yes…Im not German, but I must say..how many other countries are so open about their history and invite discussion about it? OR build memorials TO THEIR CRIMES?

This is just a ridiculous “article” and should be taken off the site for bad taste and false representation.

To quote a friend of mine: “The president of the Central Jewish Council in Germany, Charlotte Knobloch, attended the opening ceremony. It’s a memorial site and the exhibition is called “Ideology and Terror of the SS” Doesn’t quite sound like a creepy Nazi museum to me.”

like the jews are angels, who’s starving to death palastein and not letting any food go across the poor kids in there? who is the real criminal here. and we’re not in the 40s anymore this is 2010 modern day

Can the politics, dodo! This isn’t about “the jews” or Israel or Palestinians. (By the way, it’s spelled PALESTINE.) It’s about how mass murder gets planned at creepy ordinary conferences — like the one memorialized. When it comes to creepy sites, Auschwitz gave me the shivers — but I sure wouldn’t recommend anybody bomb it.

Judging by your name I can tell your origin. There are 2 sides for every story, but unlike U, a “jew” like me doesn’t spend her day hating others.
Please keep your hatred away from a nice website.

Lets get some perspective, how many people died under Stalins regime ? he was as evil as Hiter if not more as he was able to carry on his genocide way after the Nazis were defeated, and yet you still have statues and flags and pictures and Museums all over Russia and no one says a word. Seems very one sided to me as usual.

  10. October 29th, 2010 at 00:22 | #10

    @dave
I think you are very right and I completely agree with you. They’re were just as worse people out there and yet all anyone says is Hitler Hitler Hitler. I’m not a jew and I don’t agree with the nazis but I am german american and I don’t appreciate how people always look at Germany in such a negative way. It’s disgusting.

How many wild west and cowboy museums are there in the US? You know they slaughtered the natives right? And there is a civil war museum I went to in Prairie Grove, AR that sells a bounty of confederate flag merchandise in the give shop. If any nation is celebrating its violent past I think that nation is the USA.

wow, even after all this time, seeing “artifacts” and “museum” collections about the naziz’s still creates shivers…and anger. Well FUCK YOU! I live in detroit and STILL see atrocities! fkn retards!

The organized will of a nation, a determination, a pride forgotten that rose Germany out of the dust and doom of life to find pride and worth within oneself again after the world beat it into the ground. To all Germans who carry within yourselves the blame, the shame, dis-honor and embarrassment of Germany’s dark past, get hold of yourself, your pride as a people like any other people. Its time to put aside this Nazi darkness and uphold yourself up high as a proud race, proud Germans, proud German descendents, be a proud willful race once again. Our German people are always getting a kick in the butt, forced never to forget the Nazi era, and the Jews especially keep it alive. Stalin who killed many millions more then Hitler seem to be OK, forgotten, why. The crimes of Japan also with its millions more then Germany, why is this also forgotten? Spain and her conquering horrors looting place after place for gold and territory, America and her violent/killing past, and the Palestine/Israel problem, all forgotten, but not Germany, why? Because we keep our heads down in guilt, well keep it up like everyone else!!! Black pride, white pride, Latino pride, and the new one…gay pride. Well lets have German pride !!!! For country, for victory, stand up for your beloved country, live for your country, live for honor, today, tomorrow, always, work towards a new greater proud Germany, and today take your first step !!!! Sieg Heil !!!

Germany RE-AWAKE !!! Those that continue to shame you for crimes you did not commit, that continue to denounce you for the past you did not live through, defend yourself as a people should. Defend against those that look for every opportunity to throw the “Nazi” in your face. They must know we count now and into the future and must know it hard and well, so strike them with your fist and then again and they will see respect earns respect !!! ONE PEOPLE, ONE PRIDE, ONE HONOR, and nothing less will do !!! Seig Heil !!!
