Creepy Nazi museum opens

The Wewelburg Castle has now opened a museum celebrating the Nazi’s SS in Heinrich Himmler’s headquarters where he masterminded atrocities against Jews and other persecuted minorities.
But how, you ask, is this possible? There’s a simple formula: Creepy Nazi hangout + $10.7 million = Tourist Attraction
Museum officials say they don’t want it to become a pilgrimage for far right neo-fascists. Good luck with that.

this is the craziest thing ive ever seen. And it is a complete insult to the 8 million people that were killed inthe Holocaust…. The isreali army should bomb the shii out of it!!
The title of the exhibition is “Ideologie und Terror der SS”.
I doubt I have to translate that.
It’s not a celebration of the Nazi SS and thank you very much for not bombing us when we germans keep reminding ourselves of the crimes our previous generation commited.
yes…Im not German, but I must say..how many other countries are so open about their history and invite discussion about it? OR build memorials TO THEIR CRIMES?

This is just a ridiculous “article” and should be taken off the site for bad taste and false representation.
To quote a friend of mine: “The president of the Central Jewish Council in Germany, Charlotte Knobloch, attended the opening ceremony. It’s a memorial site and the exhibition is called “Ideology and Terror of the SS” Doesn’t quite sound like a creepy Nazi museum to me.”

Can the politics, dodo! This isn’t about “the jews” or Israel or Palestinians. (By the way, it’s spelled PALESTINE.) It’s about how mass murder gets planned at creepy ordinary conferences — like the one memorialized. When it comes to creepy sites, Auschwitz gave me the shivers — but I sure wouldn’t recommend anybody bomb it.

Lets get some perspective, how many people died under Stalins regime ? he was as evil as Hiter if not more as he was able to carry on his genocide way after the Nazis were defeated, and yet you still have statues and flags and pictures and Museums all over Russia and no one says a word. Seems very one sided to me as usual.

I think you are very right and I completely agree with you. They’re were just as worse people out there and yet all anyone says is Hitler Hitler Hitler. I’m not a jew and I don’t agree with the nazis but I am german american and I don’t appreciate how people always look at Germany in such a negative way. It’s disgusting.

How many wild west and cowboy museums are there in the US? You know they slaughtered the natives right? And there is a civil war museum I went to in Prairie Grove, AR that sells a bounty of confederate flag merchandise in the give shop. If any nation is celebrating its violent past I think that nation is the USA.

The organized will of a nation, a determination, a pride forgotten that rose Germany out of the dust and doom of life to find pride and worth within oneself again after the world beat it into the ground. To all Germans who carry within yourselves the blame, the shame, dis-honor and embarrassment of Germany’s dark past, get hold of yourself, your pride as a people like any other people.
